Conway injured his thumb during a T20 play against Australia last Friday in Auckland, therefore he will miss the contest, which starts in Wellington on Thursday. The T20 series was ultimately lost by New Zealand, 3-0.

According to New Zealand Cricket, he will miss the first Test due to injuries to his left thumb, as shown by scans. Henry Nicholls, an accomplished batsman, has been called up to provide backup.

Head coach of New Zealand Gary Stead commented, “It’s disappointing for Devon to be ruled out on the eve of an important match.”

“I know he was really looking forward to this series, and he’s a class player batting at the top of the order for us.”

However, Stead was happy to see Nicholls back in the lineup after he was first left out.

“Having a player of Henry’s caliber at your disposal is nice,” Stead said.

He fills a variety of roles in our batting order and has a ton of Test experience.

Conway’s availability to play in the second and final Test, which gets underway in Christchurch on March 8, is still unknown to the Black Caps.
