Designer Arpita Mehta says that months of hard work, a ton of trials, and painstaking attention to detail went into creating this custom masterpiece. The elaborate stitching with a Phulkari influence took 680 hours to finish.

It made use of a captivating blend of golden Kasab and cutdana entwined with pink-orange sindhoori thread, enhanced by intricate mirrorwork.

Rakul placed great importance on fusing her heritage and culture into her appearance. We created a really wonderful outfit by drawing inspiration from the lovely realm of phulkari, as a Sikh Punjabi girl,” Mehta said.

Rakul, who just tied the knot with actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani, gave fans a peek into her first “rasoi” when she prepared a delectable “sooji ka halwa” for the family. A newlywed wife cooks for the first time as part of a tradition called “Chauka Chardhana,” which is held two days after the wedding and generally involves making a sweet dish.

On February 21, Rakul and Jackky exchanged vows in Goa. It was a two-in-one wedding that included two ceremonies, one in the Sindhi manner and the other in the Sikh tradition, representing Rakul and Jackky’s respective ethnic roots.
Her family and close friends, including Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Arjun Kapoor, and Bhumi Pednekar, attended the little wedding.
