In 2024, Anahat Singh comes in second place in the British Junior Open Squash

<p>At the University of Birmingham, India’s Anahat Singh placed second in the girls’ under-17 squash division of the British Junior Open 2024.</p>

<p>In an intense 68-minute cliffhanger, a rising Indian star lost to Egyptian second seed Nadien Elhammamy 11-7, 11-13, 10-12, 11-5, and 9-11.</p>
<p>After Anahat won the first game 11–7, Elhammamy rallied to win the following two in a tiebreak 13–11 and 12–10.</p>
<p>There was little difference between the two players in the fifth game, which the Egyptian won 11-9. The Delhi girl won the fourth game 11-5 to force a decider.</p>
<p>In the meanwhile, Aryaveer Dewan, the current US Junior Open boys’ under-15 champion, finished third in Birmingham’s under-15 boys’ competition. He was defeated 3-1 by Egypt’s top-seeded Philopater Saleh in the semifinals, but he came back to win the third-place play-off.</p>
<p>In the under-13 girls’ quarterfinal, top-seeded American Vivienne Sze defeated promising Aadya Budhia 3-2.</p>
<p>Anahat completed a remarkable 2023 by winning the Under-19 and Senior National Championship double, as well as the Mixed Doubles Bronze in both the Asian Games and the first-ever Asian Mixed Doubles Championships with Abhay Singh. Anahat won the Under-19 title at the Scottish Junior Open late last month.</p>
